The Yorkshire Dales and The Lakes

In this brand new series, written and narrated by poet and playwright Ian McMillan, The Yorkshire Dales and The Lakes celebrates life in two of our most cherished National Parks.

Now England’s biggest expanse of protected countryside, these stunning areas inspire millions to visit every year… but they are more than a playground for tourists and adventurers: The Dales and The Lakes are also home to sixty-thousand people.

This series meets those people who give a human face to these remarkable landscapes as the weather and the seasons ebb and flow.

The Yorkshire Dales and The Lakes again celebrates life in and around two of our most cherished National Parks – The Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District, which is now a World Heritage Site.

These stunning areas inspire millions of tourists and adventurers to visit every year. But thousands of people live here too, many with centuries of proud family history.

Written and narrated by poet and playwright Ian McMillan, the series follows a range of real, engaging Yorkshire and Cumbrian folk – some returning characters, some new – who give context and continuity to these spectacular landscapes as the seasons ebb and flow.

Once again the spotlight falls on some of England’s most spectacular scenery as The Yorkshire Dales and The Lakes returns to More 4 for its third series.

From the quaint villages and heather clad moorland of the Dales to the dizzying heights and shimmering waters of the Lakes – there’s a rugged splendour here that’s reflected in the stories of the people who call these landscapes home.
