Beth Lovelady

Development Producer

Beth joined True North in 2021 as a Development Researcher and has since progressed through the team, contributing ideas and shaping projects across a wide range of genres.

Her TV career began in scripted, working across both comedy and drama at Roughcut Television and Who’s on First Films.

At True North, Beth’s development work spans lifestyle, factual, factual entertainment, reality, and documentary.
What do you do at True North?
I work in the development team, which involves lots of brainstorming, building and shaping ideas, writing and designing pitch decks, and producing and editing taster tapes. It’s a creative, fun and fast-paced role.
What’s your favourite bit of your job?
I love the creative freedom that development gives you and enjoy working with such a versatile team. Every day brings something different – one day I might be researching a true crime story, the next I’m shaping a glossy talent-led travelogue, or a bold fact-ent format.
What shows are you particularly proud of that you’ve worked on at True North and elsewhere?
I’m proud of the wide range of projects I’ve helped develop. Ashley Cain: Into the Danger Zone and A New Life in the Sun: Win a B&B stand out (two very different shows tonally!). We put a huge amount of work into getting both ideas commissioned, and it was a real team effort to bring them to life. Helping shape the ideas that go on to become real, successful programmes is always a rewarding part of the process – especially in such a tough market.
What show would you most like to make if you could make anything in the world?
There are so many! I’d love to make something that combines the scale, ambition, and adventure of Race Across the World with the buzz and talkability of The Traitors. I’m also a fan of big, glossy reality shows like Selling Sunset – great characters, luxury property porn and a bit of drama.
