The Lottery Liar
ITV1

The extraordinary story of how one little lie turned into a multi-million-pound whopper

Howard Walmsley told his wife Cathy a fib – he said he’d won “a few quid” on the National Lottery. But Howard, struggling to make ends meet with debt-collectors at the door, didn’t know when to stop. Before long Howard was telling people that his “little win” was £8,904,558. For six months, he pulled off a series of audacious cons as he tried to keep his dream alive. But eventually, it all fell apart, and instead of a millionaire’s pad he was faced with a prison cell.
