True North receives RTS ‘Yorkshire Centre Award’ for excellence
2nd July
Off the back of recently been named Best Independent Production Company at the 2014 Prolific North Awards, True North is celebrating once again having picked up the ‘Yorkshire Centre Award’, a special award created for the tenth annual RTS Yorkshire Awards.
At the glittering awards ceremony at the Royal Armouries in Leeds on Friday, True North was given special recognition for the role the company has played in consistently reaching the highest standards in TV production. Recipients of 16 RTS awards over the past decade, including ‘Newcomer of the Year’ at the inaugural awards in 2005, True North has consistently attracted the judges’ attention with a wide array of accolades across both craft and creative categories.
In addition to the ‘Yorkshire Centre Award’ at the 2014 ceremony, True North also won in the Professional Excellence in Post Production category, recognising the growth of its post-production department which is in demand from both in house productions and external clients including the BBC and ITV.
Andrew Sheldon said: “We’d like to thank the Royal Television Society for all the support they’ve shown us over the past decade. We’re as proud today as we were 10 years ago to be picking up awards for our work. And we’re delighted to play our part in ensuring that the considerable creative and technical ability we have here in Yorkshire is seen and celebrated across the UK.”
Peter Salmon, Director, England for the BBC, added: “True North are one of the most important production companies in the country, not just this region, and we’re very lucky to have them.”
