True North, the largest factual indie in the North of England, has today announced two new animal commissions.  Their successful More 4 series, Walks with My Dog will return later this year along with a new commission from CBBC for a bumper order of The Pets Factor.

Walks with My Dog, is an 6 x 60 series for More4, in which three celebrities take a stroll with their faithful hounds to Britain’s most beautiful places. Celebrities featured in the last series included Ben Fogle, Phil Spencer, Bill Bailey, Sarah Parish and John Nettles.

The re-commission builds on the initial success of a two part series, Coastal Walks with My Dog in 2016, and the subsequent commission for Walks with My Dog which performed on More 4 with average viewing figures of 355,000, peaking close to half a million and consolidating at just over 400,000, 37% up on the slot average with a 42% increase in More4’s share of the audience.

Walks With My Dog is produced by True North for More 4.  The series was commissioned by Alex Menzies, Deputy Head of Features, Channel 4.

The Pets Factor is a 2 x 10 x 20 series, produced by True North for CBBC which gives the CBBC audience an access-all-areas glimpse into life behind the scenes of some of the very best and most animal-friendly vets practices in the UK.

In each obs-doc episode the vets are treating a whole host of loveable pets with a huge range of animal ailments.  There’s everything from a constipated snake, a balding chicken, a massive operation on a tiny goldfish and a dog that’s swallowed a smelly sock.

The series is presented by pet-lover Stacey Dooley and features cheeky animated back stories to bring the pet patients’ personalities to life.

The Pets Factor series is produced by Sima Ray and is executive produced by Jess Fowle for True North and Hugh Lawton for CBBC.  It was commissioned by Cheryl Taylor, Controller, CBBC.
