True North is beefing up its in-house post facility before opening it up to other firms.

The Leeds-based factual indie is doubling the size of its post department, adding six Avid Media Composer edit suites to take its total to 14 fully linked HD suites. It is also adding a Pro Tools dubbing theatre and an extra 32 TB of storage.

“As budgets are squeezed, having in-house capacity becomes more significant. It’s a good way to keep money in the company and, having invested, it makes sense to exploit the post side of the business externally” said Creative Director Andrew Sheldon.

The extended premises will be ready by the middle of August, when True North will offer post services to other production firms for the first time.
