Channel 5 Shops Smart with True North

Following the success of the first series of Channel 5’s primetime consumer series Shop Smart Save Money, the brand has been recommissioned for a second and third series (8 x 60 – 16 episodes in total).

Series 2, produced by True North, is presented by Gaby Roslin and Fiona Phillips and will once again come from The Broadway Centre in Bradford where viewers will be offered trolley-loads of up to the minute cash-saving tips and tricks.

Joining Gaby and Fiona each week in the studio will be Deal Detective Andy Webb. As well as sharing the latest offers available on the high street, he’ll be out and about with his ‘1K Challenge’ trying to save the nation’s families large chunks of cash by making some relatively small changes to the way they spend.

Alexis Conran will also be back to lift the lid on big-name brands as he uncovers the best – and worst – value products on the market.

Every week the show will also challenge two competing teams of Smart Shoppers to save some serious cash on a family’s weekly shop.

Shop Smart Save Money (series one) launched on Channel 5 in June this year with three episodes airing on consecutive Wednesdays at 8pm.

Daniel Pearl Channel 5 commissioner said: “I’m delighted that Shop Smart Save Money has been recommissioned for a further two series. The programme hit the ground running and filled a gap for a topical consumer show which was a real treat for our viewers.”

Jess Fowle, Creative Director, True North commented,Making a topical, weekly show brings a brand-new energy to the True North production office in Leeds so we are delighted that Channel 5 has got behind the Shop Smart brand so whole-heartedly with such a substantial commission.”
