2nd December

True North’s film ‘Shannon: The Mother of all Lies – a Panorama Special’ has been nominated in the ‘Best Documentary’ category for the prestigious Broadcast Awards 2010.

The film told the exclusive story of the investigation into the abduction and kidnap of Shannon Matthews in Dewsbury in 2008.

Transmitted within hours of the guilty verdicts against Shannon’s mother Karen and her accomplice Michael Donovan, it revealed the long and difficult history between the Matthews family and Social Services.

It was watched on BBC1 by an audience of 5.6 million – a record audience for a Panorama.

The Broadcast Awards acknowledge excellence in television programme making in the UK, with categories for Entertainment, Drama and Factual programmes.
