The Way We Worshipped Christmas Special brings to life Christmas memories of those connected with their faith over the years, through a rare collection of archive films. With celebrity guests including Terry Waite, Tom O’ Connor, Kazia Pelka and Lynda Bellingham, we fondly recall the communities and customs that once characterised Christmas in this country.
Linda Bellingham remembers making Christmas decorations at school, Nativity plays and visiting Father Christmas in his grotto, and tells of how her childhood Christmases were marked by the smells of mince pies and marzipan.
Recollections of white Christmases from the 40’s are recounted by John Layne, a choir boy who remembers the perks of carol singing and midnight services at his local church.
A touching memoir of how Christmas used to be, and how it probably should be today!
