Anne Diamond is waging a war on fat. She’s been from eight stone to fifteen and a half, and she’s tried every diet and exercise regime under the sun, but it’s taken her over a decade of yo-yo dieting to learn that diets simply don’t work.
Anne knows that fat is a four letter word – one that’s sent her to some real lows over the years. Now, with her new approach to losing weight, she’s taking some of Britain’s most desperate dieters under her wing and showing them that weight loss doesn’t have to be hell.
In this, True North’s first film for Sky Real Lives, we take Anne on a nationwide journey to meet dieters who really need her help, and to seek inspiration from two people who’ve made the right changes to their lives and managed to keep the weight off.
Anne’s journey starts in Blackpool with Nicola and David – serial yo-yo dieters who’d love to put an end to their dependence on food. They know they can do it – last time they tried they lost an amazing 11 stone between them, but in the years since then they’ve piled all that – and more – back on.
Also on Anne’s journey, she meets Marie, who’s so distraught about her weight gain that she’s sure the only way out is to have a gastric band fitted; bride-to-be Dawn, who’s given herself two years to lose weight for her wedding day; and dieting success stories Jonathan and Shauna – who lost half her body weight to get to a size 14.
