With unparalleled access to the region’s film archives, The Way We Were travels through Yorkshire’s past, and meets the people at the heart of some remarkable events in its history.

This incredibly popular series has built a loyal and passionate following since it began in 2004, and has also prompted a spin off series The Way We Were on Holiday.

Using footage from the Yorkshire and Lincolnshire Film Archives the programme builds a nostalgic picture of how the region and its inhabitants have changed over the past century.

From the enlightening story of the Stephenson family who own  and run a farm in Market Weighton to a comical and exciting recounting of the motor sport trials of the early 1950’s, each edition of The Way We Were tells the stories of unusual and fascinating people, places and events around the region.

It features a wide array of archive footage, from sports events and school trips to family life and remarkable events in the region, and gives an affectionate portrait of how we grew up, loved and lived.
