Secrets of the Royal Kitchen

Five

Producer / Director: Andrew Sheldon

Exec Producer: Jess Fowle

The Royal Family likes to keep its eating habits a mystery. But in Secrets of the Royal Kitchen former Royal Chef, Graham Newbould, spills the beans and shows us how to cook for a Queen.

With each banquet taking over 20 chefs up to three days to prepare, the dishes are elaborate and the challenges facing the kitchen are vast. With code names like F Branch and BP, cooking for the Queen operates with military precision. But there are some surprising secrets that make Her Majesty seem more modest than you might think.

Champagne in the Royal household used to be expensive and exclusive, now it's from Tesco. The film also reveals that the Queen likes nothing more than eating her dinner alone, resting the plate on a card table whilst watching the TV; and Prince Philip often calls out for a delivery of fish and chips that he and the Queen eat with lashings of salt and vinegar.

Filmed in some of the most beautiful Royal locations, this glossy film gives the lowdown on a number of lavish Royal events including Princess Diana’s wedding breakfast, and Graham Newbould takes us through some of the Royal household’s favourite and most elaborate dishes.
