BBC Three
Twenty-eight year old Sam Hall has a skin condition called EB that makes her skin fragile like a butterfly's wings.
But Sam's no delicate soul.
Sam is a stormchaser and this film is the story of Sam's extraordinary road trip across the USA and through some of the worst weather America has ever seen.
Epidermolysis Bullosa is a devastating hereditary skin condition that causes Sam's skin to constantly tear and blister. But that doesn’t stop her chasing wild weather with only big brother Keith as her support.
Every year, massive storms steam across the USA. And every year, Sam is right behind them – leaving behind her hometown of Warrington to zig-zag across the Mid Western plains – otherwise known as Tornado Alley.
But nothing could prepare Sam for what would happen on his year's road trip.
Two and a half weeks into their epic journey, Sam and Keith encounter the most dramatic weather they’ve ever experienced. While travelling through Missouri they find themselves on the tail of a vicious set of storms. But they have no idea of the destruction these tornados will unleash upon the unsuspecting residents of the city of Joplin.
It’s a life-changing experience for Sam who, for the first time, comes face to face with the brutal human cost of the tornadoes that she loves.
The film was commissioned as part of the BBC Three's FRESH strand for new Directors.
