Addicted to Surrogacy follows the extraordinary stories of the women who are hooked on giving away babies.
Around a thousand surrogate babies have been born in the UK over the past two decades. And in recent years, half of them have been born to women who’ve been surrogates more than once. The truth behind what drives these serial surrogates is far more complex than simply money or altruism.
The film follows the stories of Jill Hawkins, who at forty-four is Britain’s most prolific childless surrogate; Tammy Lynn, a housewife from Kansas, who is pregnant with twins who’ll be her sixth and seventh surrogate babies; first-timer Amanda who’s having her first surrogate baby while already planning her second and Carole Horlock, the world record holder, with a total of twelve surrogate babies to her name.
Addicted to Surrogacy was commissioned for Channel Four's Cutting Edge strand by Dominique Walker, Commissioning Editor, Factual Entertainment.
