We're a nation of food lovers who've now got more choice than ever before. But from grabbing a bite to gastro-delights, from eathing in to taking out, there's always the chance to go wrong. So, it's just as well that there's a vast army of food fighters working to keep us safe.
Food Fighters, presented by chef Simon Rimmer, covers the work of all sorts of people at the frontline of food safety. From Environmental Health Inspectors in shops, factories and takeaways to UK Border Agency patrols at our airports and ports plus a number of other people whose little known work is crucial in protecting the quality of the food on our plate - such as Lion Mark inspectors for eggs, dairy hygiene inspectors and trading standards officers.
