True North’s new series Animal Rescue Squad began yesterday attracting 25% more viewers than the slot average.
Drawing in over half a million people in its 18:30 slot on Five, the series peaked with a 2.7% share of the audience.
Presented by Matt Baker and Michaela Strachan, Animal Rescue Squad follows the urgent work going on to save endangered species, wild animals and domestic pets at home and abroad.
True North’s production teams filmed in South Africa, Florida, California and all across the UK to bring the most exciting and compelling stories of animal rescue and conservation from around the world.
The series was ordered by Five Director of Programmes Jay Hunt and Wildlife and Factual Acquisitions Editor Bethan Corney in November 2007 and the team had the series ready for delivery by the end of January 2008.
Animal Rescue Squad runs Monday to Friday at 6:30pm on Five, with each show repeated on the following day at 12:30pm on Five or at 6:00pm on Five Life.
The first twenty episodes of the series run from Monday 4th February to Friday 29th February, with a subsequent run of ten episodes beginning in March.
