2008 is already shaping up to be a great year for True North, and we're celebrating an array of commissions that will make the company busier than ever before.
Series three of Animal 24:7 begins to transmit in the spring on BBC 1, at the same time as series four goes into production. The series, which follows the work of the people who protect pets and wild animals up and down the UK, is a regular ratings winner for BBC One daytime, attracting over 1 million viewers every day.
Life from the Loft (WT), True North’s replacement for the BBC’s long running religion series Heaven and Earth, goes into production in February. The team are currently renovating the warehouse apartment that will be the show’s home for its six-month run, which begins on 20th April 2008.
Animal Rescue Squad¸ our 30-part series for Five begins in February in the channel’s 18:30 slot. The series, presented by Matt Baker and Michaela Strachan will run on weeknights for six weeks.
Our long-running regional series My Yorkshire returns in the New Year for a new ten part series – its longest run yet. The team secured a huge scoop when they signed up the notoriously private Arthur Scargill to talk exclusively about his work, passion and love for the region.
In development, True North has secured funding from Channel 4 to develop ideas for documentaries and factual entertainment departments. Saskia Wilson, who joined the company last summer after she co-directed the award winning Breaking Up With the Joneses, is dedicated to C4 docs and fact ent development.
True North also won a place on ITV’s Independent Development Fund scheme, which has awarded us development funding to work up projects for all ITV channels.
